Good for Geeks, too.
I love my WordPress blog, and I love Squidoo. But tumblr is much easier than either of them. You can have a thought, and type it in in seconds, and it’s uploaded to the web where any of your friends can check it out any time.
If you’re working on a collabrative project, this is a great way to keep everyone informed of your progress.
And it can be distributed as an RSS feed, so anyone can sign up to be notified whenever you’ve posted something.
You may be wondering what the advantages of this to say, Twitter, is. Well, with Twitter, you’re limited to only a sentence or two for each post. Maybe a link. But here, you can embed full-blown videos, even. No one has to click on a link to be taken somewhere else to see what you want to share.
So, I’m going to suggest that we start a new tumblr account right here, and one of you lucky buggers is going to do it for us right in front of the group. This has a two-fold purpose: One is to get you some hands-on experience, and for the group to see that you don’t have to be a semi-geek to do this, and the other is so you can shut me up and see someone else do this stuff.
The new account could become someone’s personal account, or we could just delete it afterwards.
This MUG ONE tumblr account (the one you are reading) could be a great way for the board-members to keep everyone up-to-date with not only our doings, but things in the Mac-o-sphere in general.
Just to keep this in perspective - I first started this tumblr-blog less than twenty-minutes ago, and already typed all this stuff, embedded the video of my dog, Maia, surfed around for some cool anamorphic art, and answered some e-mails while I was at it.
This thing is an ADD-ers dream!
